During my teenage years I developed M.E, a devastating illness with symptoms ranging from severe tiredness, achy limbs, insomnia, digestive problems, to poor concentration. For a while I had to use a wheelchair. Exploring natural methods of recovery which included meditation, qi gong, yoga, aromatherapy massage, herbalism, food combining, dense nutrition, visualisation and affirmations was the beginning of a long yet fullfilling journey to my recovery. I found myself hooked on natural therapies. (Receiving regular aromatherapy massage was about the only thing that helped relieve my achy limbs.)
I embarked on an Holistic Therapy Diploma course at a North Wales college, thinking how much I wanted to be able to learn the skills of massage and aromatherapy as a hobby, to help friends and family. Following this my plan was to study Geography but it did not take me long to realise that my passion was to further my knowledge in holistic health.
Since then I have had a fulfilling career as a therapist in North Wales, Manchester, Chester and Sheffield, working in nursing homes, health centres, offices, from home, mobile and as Treatments Manager at a luxurious day Spa. I have now returned, with my family, to Chester where I feel my heart is, working from a cosy, tranquil, converted barn in a rural location.
I am often asked which treatment do I most enjoy giving, the answer has always been the same, I don’t have a favourite! I feel fortunate that my enthusiasm and interest has never ceased, whether its in Massage, Bowen, Facials, Acupressure, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Exfoliation!
Also, I believe they all have their place…what works for one person wont necessarily be as enjoyable for another, or perhaps a particular treatment is preferable until its done its job and then another will suit you better. You can be guided by yourself.
My motto: if it feels good, its doing you good!
Personally, I receive great benefit from a regular deep shoulder, neck, scalp and face massage but I am also partial to a good leg massage which supports my exercise regime!
Annually I attend workshops and courses to enhance my skills so that I can further benefit my clients. Most recently (November 2017) I attended a wonderful course on ‘Stretching the Client’. I will now often add in some useful stretches into treatments, with great feedback.
The treatments that I provide are tailored to the individual and I always aim to meet your needs. With over 15 years of therapy experience, I believe that following your treatment you will leave in a re-energised, blissful state of well being.
Exercise, especially running; veggie cooking; reading – anything apart from sci fi!; visiting new places; tending the garden; mountain/hill walks; sharing a lovely pot of herbal tea; observing and playing with my children; sleep.
